On Wednesday 12th October 2016, we celebrated our official opening at our Nicosia premises, where the Minister of Finance, Mr. Harris Georgiades officiated the ceremony.
The CEO, Mr. Yiannis Loizou, during his speech, said that our vision is to create a bank that will establish rewarding relationships with the consumers. “Honesty, transparency, integrity and professionalism are the principles on which we build on in order to better serve our clients”. He also focused on the strong commitment of the founder of Ancoria Bank, Mr. Sievert Larsson, Swedish entrepreneur and philanthropist, to provide contemporary financial services in Cyprus, and his decision to support related initiatives.
The Minister of Finance, Mr. Harris Georgiades, concentrated on the importance of the day as the founding of Ancoria Bank proves to be a vote of confidence to the economy of our country and the prospects it has. He added that the licensing of Ancoria Bank happened during difficult times for the economy, but still Mr. Larsson, after almost three decades of conducting business in Cyprus, remained firm and never lost his confidence since he had seen the prospects with his associates and for that he said he is sincerely thankful. Additionally he congratulated Mr. Larsson for his extensive charitable work.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ancoria Bank, Mr. Martin Schenk, talked about the culture of the bank, which dictates a robust corporate governance that is essential for the sustainable growth of Ancoria Bank. He highlighted that the Board of Directors inspires a sound corporate culture by setting high standards of compliance with the applicable European Union and national legal and regulatory framework on governance as well as best practices. Mr. Schenk said: “The Board of Directors of Ancoria Bank is comprised by a diverse group of reputable professionals with significant experience in their field of work. The diversity in terms of professional experience, areas of expertise, age and gender in the boardroom, provide for the correct setting of the bank’s strategy and objectives”.
Today, we operate three Banking Centres. One in Nicosia, one in Limassol and one in Larnaca. In total our team is comprised of 63 employees, selected with strict professional criteria and it includes experienced individuals of the broader financial sector with high academic qualifications and young people eager to work.
